The primary responsibility of the Commercial Lender is to develop new business and generate loan production to facilitate loan portfolio growth with term loans and lines of credit to commercial and small business borrowers, as well as consumer borrowers, meeting the profitability targets of the bank while maintaining asset quality as a priority.



  • Bachelor’s Degree (can be substituted with 7+ years of professional experience).


  • Five or more years in banking, financial services and/or business development.
  • Sales and/or business development experience is highly preferred.
  • Underwriting and/or financial analysis experience is highly preferred.
  • Computer and office equipment skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office.


  • Excellent communication skills, positive attitude, and professionalism
  • Able to perform job duties while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
  • Reliable transportation necessary for travel to and from customer locations, loan closings, community, and networking events.
  • Must have or be able to acquire and maintain NMLS registration.
  • Bank of Zachary has a BYOD (bring your own device) cell phone policy; lenders are expected to use their cell phones to communicate with customers and co-workers, as a portion of the work may be performed outside of the office.


  • Responsible for originating, expanding, and retaining loan and deposit relationships with individuals, business owners, and real estate investors in the bank’s lending territory.
  • Interviews applicants, accepts loan applications and underwrites loan requests, including but not limited to pulling credit, spreading financials, and creating loan presentations, while maintaining compliance with all regulatory guidelines and bank policies.
  • Decisions loan requests inside of individual credit authority and makes recommendations to appropriate committees on larger relationships.
  • Makes presentations on loan requests to various loan committees and provides feedback to other lenders on their loan requests at Officer’s Loan Committee.
  • Monitors construction loans and documents collateral inspections, with pictures, prior to approving draw requests.
  • Collects past due loans and overdraft accounts and makes recommendations to management on workout arrangements.
  • Takes leadership on bank projects as directed by management and represents Bank of Zachary well in the market and community.


  • Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to effectively prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner and the ability to work independently are required.
  • Strong understanding of the Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook, as well as Adobe Pro, and various other bank software, is a must.
  • Must be able to use office equipment such as a copier, computer, and printer.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively work with colleagues and on multiple projects simultaneously, managing time and resources to ensure work is completed effectively and within established timeframes.


  • Most of the normal duties will be performed inside, which will involve almost constant interaction with other employees and/or the public with frequent interruptions.
  • Frequent meetings with other members of the staff are necessary for planning, support, and training purposes.
  • Normal working hours Monday – Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm.
  • Some travel may be required within the institution’s branch and office network; attendance and travel may be required to various customer locations, title companies and community events.
